A plot of land, a relaxing retreat, a formal landscape, a place of constant work: gardens carry a range of associations for individuals and communities alike. “Framing Nature: Gardens and Imagination” unites works from across the Museum’s collections to consider gardens’ surprising similarities and differences over time and place.
Join Courtney Harris, associate curator, Decorative Arts and Sculpture, Art of Europe; Betsy Dospěl Williams, Penny Vinik Chair of Fashion, Textiles, and Jewelry; and Karen Haas, Lane Senior Curator of Photographs, as they explore how humans relate to the natural world, shape garden spaces through cultivation, care, and labor, and express this universal work through art.
