Directed by Norman Jewison (USA, 1968, 102 min.).

A slick, stylish caper set in Boston, The Thomas Crown Affair follows Steve McQueen as a millionaire thrill seeker who orchestrates a bank heist just for the sport of it—and Faye Dunaway as the sharp-witted investigator determined to bring him down. Shot on location, the film is a local time capsule, capturing landmarks from Beacon Hill and Mount Auburn Cemetery to the marble sands of Crane Beach in Ipswich. With its split screen montages, jazzy Michel Legrand score, and simmering cat-and-mouse chemistry, Norman Jewison’s film is as much a love letter to ’60s style as it is to greater Boston.
