Dr. Josef Wegner, professor of Egyptian Archeology at the University of Pennsylvania, and curator, Egyptian Section, Penn Museum of Archeology and Anthropology, gives this year’s Herman Memorial Lecture.
Hear from Dr. Wegner about excavations through the royal necropolis of Anubis-Mountain at Abydos in southern Egypt, which have revealed 13 pharaohs’ tombs dating between about 1850 and 1600 BCE. The tombs vary dramatically in size and design—as evidenced by the immense tomb of pharaoh Senwosret III, and the tiny but colorful one of pharaoh Senebkay.
Join Dr. Wegner for a reception following his lecture. Lecture tickets are provided for all reception attendees.
This program is scheduled to be an in-person event, however, details may be subject to change.
