Spotlight Talks: In Cullercoats with Winslow Homer

Join Annette Manick, head of Paper Conservation, and immerse yourself as Homer did in a world of cobles, steamships, and life on the coast. A successful illustrator and established painter, Winslow Homer left New York City in 1881 and took up lodging in Cullercoats, a small fishing village on the northeast coast of England. Homer befriended and drew inspiration from the community, depicting their dependence on an unpredictable sea with respect and admiration.
